Lisa Field Thompson Columbus Ohio attorneyAttorney Lisa Fields Thompson is a former Assistant Franklin County Prosecutor who specialized in drug prosecutions as a member of the elite Drug Unit. Attorney Thompson also spent years as a prosecutor in the juvenile division of the county prosecutor’s office where she focused on prosecuting juveniles in misdemeanor, felony, and bindover cases; and adults in Abuse, Neglect, and Dependency cases.

In addition to working as a county prosecutor, Attorney Thompson has also practiced with the Franklin County Muncipal Court as a traffic prosecutor, with the State Public Defender’s Office as an appellate attorney, and with the Ohio House of Representatives as both a legislative aide and as legal counsel to the House Democratic Caucus.

Attorney Thompson is the firm’s lead criminal defense attorney and heads the firm’s criminal division. Having more than 40 hours of mediation training she also practices with the firm’s Alternative Dispute Resolution group, concentrating in Christian conciliation.

A Cleveland native, Attorney Thompson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Oberlin College in 1993 and a Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1997. She became a licensed attorney in the state of Ohio in 1997. She is admitted to practice law in Ohio, the United States District Court for the Southern District and Northern District of Ohio, Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Attorney Thompson has a long history of giving back to the community. She served for several years on the Youth Advisory Board of her church. She is a former troop leader and delegate with Girl Scouts Heart of Ohio’s Heartland Council, and received an award for Outstanding Troop Leader. Attorney Thompson still serves as a parent committee member. She is also a former member of the Junior League of Columbus, where she completed more than 100 hours of community service. Attorney Thompson enjoys membership in the Columbus and Ohio State Bar Associations, and is a graduate of the Columbus Bar Association Barrister Leader Program. Twice, she has been admitted to the Ohio State Bar Association Bar College, which recognizes attorneys who obtain more than 24 hours of continuing legal education credit in a single year. She has served as a judge in numerous mock trial and moot court competitions. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and has been for more than seventeen years.
